Are you a mountain rescuer from anywhere in the world interested in competing with colleagues from other countries? Come to the 44. Mountain Rescue Challenge in the Czech Republic. The prestigious international competition for pairs of mountain rescuers will take place on 1-3 September 2023 in the Jizera Mountains in the Czech Republic.
The course will be about 20 km in total and consist of two stages. The first will be an off-road climbing ascent of the fourth difficulty level with an upper belay and a time trial of about 5 km, which will include technical disciplines such as bridging, prusiking - jumaring, climbing a rock wall with self-belay or abseiling. In the second part, the competitors have to demonstrate their practical knowledge by treating a simulated injury.
There are two categories: for teams with a combined age of under 89 years and for teams with a combined age of over 90 years. Presentations, explanations of the course and the drawing of bibs take place on Friday evening, the competition runs on Saturday, followed by a celebration of the winners and a tribute to the losers in the evening, and everyone goes home on Sunday. The organisers will pay for the competitors' accommodation and meals.
